“A Star Is Born” is the talk of Hollywood after earning rave reviews in Venice, and Warner Bros. is capitalizing on the through-the-roof buzz with new footage that puts Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s authentic chemistry front and center. Entertainment Weekly has debuted a new sneak peek of the movie, which features a scene of Gaga and Cooper on the night their characters first meet, plus a ton of new shots that drive home what a visual stunner the film is thanks to DP Matthew Libatique.
Cooper makes his directorial debut with “A Star Is Born,” which casts Gaga as an aspiring singer who starts a romance with a country music legend (played by Cooper) and achieves international music stardom. Gaga has been singled out in reviews for giving an “extraordinary” performance in her first lead film role.
The movie overall is expected to be a major Oscar player, especially with awards buzz soaring thanks to recent reports from top awards prognosticators. Variety’s Kristopher Tapley writes the movie “has the muscle to achieve what only three films in movie history ever have: Win all five major Academy Awards (picture, director, actor, actress, and screenplay).” Gregory Ellwood, awards columnist for The Playist, says the movie “more than lives up to the Oscar hype,” while Kyle Buchanan, the new carpetbagger for The New York Times, praised the film in a recent Twitter thread.
