Woman slammed by her mum for upgrading her own plane seat and leaving her in economy – but people are divided | The Sun

A WOMAN asked if she was in the wrong for upgrading her own seat on a flight – but leaving her family in economy class.

The 19-year-old explained that she was travelling from New York and Los Angeles with her family.

After her mum booked all of the tickets, the woman's boyfriend offered to upgrade her to business class with his flight points – which caused friction.

She explained: "My boyfriend travels A LOT for business so he collects a lot of points on his company card.

"I was talking to him about how I’ve never flown business class and I’d love to do it one day.

"He told me that I could totally use his points to upgrade my ticket, and he really wanted me to considering he wasn’t able to book time off to come on this trip with us."

However, she said her mum "completely flipped out" and that she should have upgraded her brother's ticket as well as he'd be jealous.

She later said her dad told her to apologise to her mum for upgrading her ticket without telling them.

People were divided online, with some people agreeing with her dad.

One person said: "Your mom shouldn’t expect you to upgrade anyone else’s ticket nor flip out on you but it was still kinda sucky you chose to upgrade during a family vacation when you could do it any other flight especially if your bf is always earning new miles."
