Which Greek islands are on the UK quarantine list?

MOST of Greece remains on the safe list for England – but not for Scotland and Wales, who have enforced their own travel restrictions.

And Transport Secretary Grant Shapps removed a number of Greek islands from England's quarantine list on October 8 in a boost for British holidaymakers.

Which Greek islands are on England's quarantine list?

A large number of Greek islands had been on the quarantine list – deemed unsafe for normal travel.

But Shapps changed the restrictions, meaning there are now only restrictions for Mykonos and Crete.

It means Brits should only travel to these islands if essential – and must self-isolate for 14 days upon their return to the UK.

But for Scotland, travel restrictions remain in place for all of Greece and its islands.

Is Zante on the quarantine list?

Zante – or Zakynthos – will be removed from the quarantine list and made safe to travel to from Saturday, October 10 at 4am.

This is a huge boost to British holidaymakers with the popular tourist destination having been deemed safe only for essential last month.

This also goes for Wales after Zante saw a decrease in its number of coronavirus cases, but Scotland has kept it on their quarantine list.

 

Is Rhodes on the quarantine list?

Rhodes remains off the quarantine list for both England and Wales, yet is on the quarantine list for Scotland.

Anyone arriving from Rhodes into Scotland will have to self-isolate for two weeks.

One of the larger Greek islands, there are travel restrictions on the island which includes a night-time curfew from midnight to 7am.

Is Santorini on the quarantine list?

Santorini will now be taken off the quarantine list for England as of Saturday, October 10 at 4am.

The island had already had a travel corridor with Wales, but remains on the quarantine list for Scotland.

A tourist in Santorini warned of large crowds and people ignoring face masks at some of the popular hotspots after being met by huge groups trying to take a picture at sunset.


Which islands were removed from the quarantine list?

England and Wales saw a number of islands removed from their quarantine list.

Mr Shapps tweeted on Thursday: "We are ADDING Lesvos, Tinos, Serifos, Santorini and Zakynthos to the #TravelCorridor list this week."

This means that as of Saturday, October 10 at 4am, anyone travelling to these islands will not have self-isolate on the island or upon their return to the UK.

ButScotland has put the whole of Greece on their quarantine list, meaning travel should only be essential.

Are there any other travel restrictions in Greece?

Mykonos and Crete are also part of the Welsh quarantine restrictions.

But restrictions for Paros and Antiparos will be lifted from 4am on Octobeor 10 for all Welsh travellers.

Greece had 434 new daily coronavirus cases on October 8 with six new deaths.
