Disney at Christmas
While Disneyland is fun to visit any time of the year, visiting Disney around the holidays can’t be beat. That said, there are a few things that could interfere with your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth. Disney at Christmas is one of the busiest and most expensive times to visit. So, scoring deals on flights and admission can make a huge difference in your holiday vacation.
With Christmas at Disneyland opening on November 9, 2018 (until January 6, 2019), now is the perfect time to book your holiday vacation. Here are some of the best travel tips for planning a trip to Disney at Christmas:
The best time to book Christmas flights
For those that aren’t local, planning a trip to Disney at Christmas can be pricey — especially since the holidays are a time when most airlines mark up their ticket prices. According to Priceline data shared with The Cheat Sheet, the best time to book Christmas flights, in general, is on a Sunday (and typically in October) with average round-trip tickets costing around $341. The worst time to book is on Tuesdays.
And while plane tickets for the days leading up to Christmas might vary — and be expensive — you can still score big savings if you plan to get there on Christmas Day (or after). “Mid-November is prime time for snagging the deepest discounts on flights if you’re willing to arrive on Christmas Day,” notes Priceline.
The best day to visit Disney at Christmas
It should come of no surprise that Disney at Christmas is one of the most crowded times to visit. However, with the help of Is It Packed, forecasting the best day to visit Disneyland in December is easier than you think. According to the website’s calendar prediction, the best time to visit Disneyland at Christmas is December 3, 2018-December 6, 2018. And your best bet is on the 5th and 6th.
If you are visiting closer to Christmas, consider going on the 11th and 12th. The forecast predicts crowds for both dates, but they aren’t as bad as other dates in December. Christmas Eve is also considered a “best bet” day, considering the time of year.
The best day to buy Disneyland tickets
According to Disneyland’s ticket calendar, the most affordable days to visit Disneyland in December are between the 3rd and 6th, as well as the 10th through 13th, when you can get regular ticket prices for $117 per day. All other days have peak prices with tickets starting at $135 per day.
If you want to score value tickets (which are $97 a pop) for Disney at Christmas, consider visiting the park between November 12th and 15th.
