Cheap Lapland holiday – get a 3-night trip with flights and a 4* hotel from £249pp

But the reality is that the price is often prohibitively expensive – costing at least £500 per person for the travel, accommodation and entertainment.

That's why it's worth keeping an eye on voucher websites such as Living Social, Groupon and Wowcher for deals to Lapland.

These pop up from time to time and could save you some serious cash.

Sun Online Travel spotted a three-night deal to Lapland on Groupon that starts at £249pp, including breakfast, return flights and a four-star hotel.

You'll pay an extra £100 per person for extra tours, such as a husky safari and a visit to the Santa Claus Village. Click here to book.

For that price, which must be bought by a minimum of two people, a stay in a standard double or twin room with breakfast and London return direct flights is included.

For this base price, the customer must fly out in November instead of December, as the plane fares rise steeply the closer you get to Christmas.

There are plenty of options to go after Christmas too though, when the price starts to drop again.

Located 2km from the railway station and 8km from the Santa Claus Village amusement park in Rovaniemi – the Finnish Lapland capital, the four-star Santa’s Hotel Santa Claus rooms are kitted out with en-suite bathrooms, TVs, minifridges and tea- and coffee-making facilities.

On-site amenities include a gym, a sauna and two restaurants serving Finnish dishes and Lapland specialities, with breakfast included in the booking.

There are a number of extra tours that customers can pay for, priced at £100pp each, the favourite being a Rovaniemi Guided Tour and Santa Claus Village.
