Your Facebook profile will soon be festooned with other people's WhatsApp posts

WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram are going to be integrated over the coming months and years under plans said to be a favoured project of Mark Zuckerberg.

Now it looks like we’re about to see one of the first of the changes associated with this coming together.

Facebook is reportedly planning to introduce a feature which lets you share WhatsApp posts directly onto Facebook.

And whilst this might sound like your feed is about to get snarled up with irrelevant content, the social network is rumoured to have made sure the WhatsApp posts will only be seen if you want to view them.

According to the website WABetaInfo, you will be able to share WhatsApp status updates to Facebook.

These posts are similar to Facebook content already and allow you to send a public message to all contacts at once.

If you choose to share a status, it will be placed into the stories section of Facebook – which works a bit like Instagram Stories and allows you to share collections of photos or videos.

This should mean you’ll only see friends’ WhatsApp posts if you really want to view them.

Facebook bought Whatsapp for $19 billion in 2014.

It’s planning to ‘integrate’ WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger next year.

The three services will still work as standalone apps, but will be merged so that chats and messages can pass between them.

In a statement, Facebook said: ‘We’re working on making more of our messaging products end-to-end encrypted and considering ways to make it easier to reach friends and family across networks.

‘As you would expect, there is a lot of discussion and debate as we begin the long process of figuring out all the details of how this will work.’
