Windows 10 has another irritating problem as Microsoft confirms new bug

Windows 10 might now be Microsoft’s most popular operating system but it continues to suffer some hugely irritating glitches.

Since the latest version of the software was released back in May, users of the software have complained of numerous problems including an update which stopped Bluetooth devices from connecting and an unexpected bug that caused a black screen to appear when starting up machines.

Now it seems there’s yet another bug in the very latest version, (Windows 10, version 1903), which is affecting some Windows 10 Enterprise users who access the web via VPNs.

As spotted by Windows Latest, the issue interferes with the Remote Access Connection Manager.

According to the latest update from Microsoft, “The Remote Access Connection Manager (RASMAN) service may stop working and you may receive the error “0xc0000005” on devices where the diagnostic data level is manually configured to the non-default setting of 0.”

“This issue only occurs when a VPN profile is configured as an Always On VPN (AOVPN) connection with or without device tunnel. This does not affect manual only VPN profiles or connections.”

Microsoft officially confirmed the problem with a support document giving instructions on how to bypass the glitch.

The US firm also states that it is working on a fix which should arrive later this month although it’s worth noting that most Windows 10 adopters won’t be affected by this issue.

Windows 10 version 1809, 1803 and older versions are not affected.

The news of this issue comes as Microsoft has just announced what’s coming next to its Windows 10 software.

Dubbed 19H2, the next substantial upgrade for Windows 10 was noted by the American tech giant to deliver “performance improvements, enterprise features and quality enhancements”.

Microsoft also declared it will experiment with a new method of update delivery for 19H2 that should be “less disruptive” overall.

Although this will only be available to Windows 10 users running the May 2019 Update, it appears the Redmond-based company is attempting to deliver future upgrades monthly rather than in two major releases every year.

Microsoft explained: “The next feature update for Windows 10 (known in the Windows Insider Program as 19H2) will be a scoped set of features for select performance improvements, enterprise features and quality enhancements.

“To deliver these updates in a less disruptive fashion, we will deliver this feature update in a new way, using servicing technology (like the monthly update process) for customers running the May 2019 Update who choose to update to the new release.

“In other words, anyone running the May 2019 Update and updating to the new release will have a far faster update experience because the update will install like a monthly update.”
