Ukraine has started to accept donations toward its military in Dogecoin as Russia’s invasion of the country continues.
Cryptocurrencies have become a prominent feature of the war between Russia and Ukraine with the country accepting other cryptocurrencies such as Solana.
Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine tweeted today that Dogecoin exceeded the Russian Ruble in value.
‘We start to accept donations in meme coin. Now even meme can support our army and save lives from Russian invaders,’ he said in the tweet.

Fedorov called on Dogecoin owners including Tesla owner Elon Musk and creator of Dogecoin, Shibetoshi Nakamoto to donate, adding a wallet address for the donations.

‘Sent some dogecoin,’ said Nakamoto replying to the tweet.
‘Folks aren’t usually rich and dogecoin itself is generally used for small transactions, but we are a caring and passionate bunch those who want to help will offer what they can ~ i hope the country can heal and rebuild stronger after all of this,’ he added.
The Ukrainian government has reportedly raised £26 million, through more than 35,000 cryptoasset donations since the start of the Russian invasion, according to Elliptic, a blockchain analytics company.
Co-founder of blockchain network Solana labs, Anatoly Yakovenko, who grew up in Ukraine tweeted today that £1 million had been raised in 36 hours.

Support has already started pouring in with hundreds of people posting screenshots of their donations in response to Fedorov’s tweet.
