TikTok is seemingly undergoing a massive international outage, with thousands of people unable to watch videos.

Users are getting a bug where the app says 'Couldn't play video' any time a new clip is opened.

More than 8500 people have reported issues with TikTok on the website DownDetector, which is used to monitor downtime and outages on a range of popular apps and sites.

It's not clear what's causing the app outage or if it is affecting everyone, but several members of the Star Tech team have tested the app and are getting the same bug as users on Twitter.

The first video you open on the app seems to play for a moment, but then stops.

Every clip scrolled to after that comes up with the bug and no video is played.

One commenter on DownDetector said: "Tiktok appears to be broken, couldn't play video on repeat, I can still scroll, however my loo break was alot quicker than normal… So every cloud and all that."

Another user on Twitter said: "TikTok is down now I've got to watch Insta reels like a peasant."
