This Nasa tool could make your selfies out of this world by putting you in space

A new app from NASA lets you enhance your selfies so it looks like you’re an astronaut in space.

The app, appropriately named NASA Selfies, let you snap a shot of yourself to overlay on a choice of backgrounds from the Orion Nebula to the Milky Way.

A second new app from Nasa , called NASA’s Exoplanet Excursions VR, lets you take a virtual reality tour of the TRAPPIST-1 planetary system.

Both of these apps were created to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the launch of NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope.

The NASA Selfies app lets you place your face, or that of your pet, into a spacesuit with a backdrop of stunning images taken by the Spitzer Space Telescope of the last 15 years.

You can then share the image from your camera gallery or within the app to use #NASASelfie . The app is available on iOS and Android now.

The second app allows you to take a virtual tour of the TRAPPIST-1 system using Oculus, Vive and smartphone VR as well as via YouTube 360.

TRAPPIST-1 is the only known exoplanet system to host seven roughly Earth-sized planets.
