Hundreds of disgruntled Spotify users have taken to social media to complain about issues with the streaming service, which is currently suffering an outage. The problems seem to only impact the web browser-based player, with the iOS and Android apps still working well. Spotify hasn’t confirmed what is causing the issues, however, it seems to be preventing subscribers from streaming music and podcasts on their desktop PCs.
Independent monitor DownDetector, which tracks the status of web apps and streaming services by monitoring mentions across social media, shows a huge spike in reported problems around 8:57pm on January 21, 2021. At its peak, DownDetector was tracking 592 complaints about the issues impacting Spotify every minute.
