The wait for the OnePlus 7 is almost over with the Chinese firm finally lifting the lid on this all-new phone at 4pm today.
It’s expected that OnePlus will make some significant changes to its usual format with two separate devices being announced during its keynote.
Rumours suggest the standard OnePlus 7 will be joined by an exciting upgrade called the OnePlus 7 Pro and if all the latest leaks are true it could be a contender for phone of the year.
We’re fully expecting this Pro model to arrive with a huge fully edge-to-edge screen and triple rear camera place on its rear case.
A radical design with pop-up selfie camera could also be included which should mean OnePlus can ditch the notch and offer fans a fully immersive display.
One other exciting feature is the possible inclusion of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 processor which could make this the fastest Android phone on the market.
In fact, a recent speed test has claimed that the Pro beats the Galaxy S10 and Mate 20 Pro when it comes to sheer power.
This is clearly all exciting news for OnePlus fans but there could be an announcement that might wipe the smile of their faces.
A number of reports have surfaced which suggest this Pro model will arrive with a very high price tag.
It’s thought the things could start from around €699 and rise to over €800 for one particular version.
One leak from Chinese website JD, has placed a price of ￥9,999 on the 7 Pro which roughly converts to around £1,100 and another rumoured pricing structure posted on Twitter by Ishan Agarwal reveals even more details.
The technology tipster said in a post: “So, I already gave you guys the European prices for 8GB+256GB (€749) and 12GB+256GB (€819) OnePlus 7 Pro. I have finally got the price for 6GB+128GB as well. It’s gonna start at €699/€709 depending on the country.”
If true, it will make this the most expensive phone the firm has ever made.
OnePlus has long had a tradition of making premium devices at a much lower cost than its rivals and the Pro could show a shift in the company’s strategy.
Luckily it seems there could still be a way of owning a new OnePlus at a lower price with the standard OnePlus 7 looking more likely to keep its budget costs.
