Although it's selling out faster than we can keep track, the Sony Playstation 5 isn't exactly overflowing rife with games right now.
While that's set to change very soon thanks to the slew of new games that were announced at the Playstation Showcase earlier this month, there's currently a shortage of next-gen console exclusives.
If you're tired of playing remasters of old favourites and want to get the most of your next-gen kit, here are just some of the brand new PS5 games you should think about playing right now while you wait for Spider-Man 2 to come out.
DEATHLOOP
It only came out last week, but Bethesda's 'Groundhog Day'-style assassin battler has already wowed critics, nabbing a Metacritic score of 88. DEATHLOOP is a first-person action game set on the lawless island of Blackreef as two assassins fight for victory.
The catch? Your character, Colt, is stuck in a repeating time loop and has until midnight to take out eight targets. If you die, you'll wake back up at the start of the loop, using the knowledge you've gained on previous loops to grasp victory and finally escape the loop.
Applauded for its environment design and compelling 'retrofuturist' visual style, DEATHLOOP features some explosive action, slick parkour, and tons of combat puzzles.
It also has a unique multiplayer element in which players can assume the role of Julianna, a rival agent who must hunt down the main character. This could see you cause havoc in other players' games.

PS5 Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine teased in Sony showcase as fans say they're 'hyped'
What is it with the PS5 and timeloops? This third-person horror roguelike from 'Nex Machina' developers Housemarque sees players adopt the mantle of Selene, a heavily-armed space pilot who has crash landed on the alien planet of Atropos.
As Selene stumbles upon her own corpses, you quickly realise that there's no easy way out of Atropos. Every time Selene dies, the loop sends the player back to the start—and the planet changes in new and terrifying ways with each reset.
Returnal has received strong praise from critics for its atmospheric design and the way it uses the PS5's new 3D audio features. However, be warned: this game isn't for everyone, and if you're looking for a typical combat/reward gameplay loop, you might not find it here.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Perhaps the first genuine next-gen exclusive for PS5, fans of Sony's swashbuckling fur / steel duo have been blown away by the new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
It has received high praise for its use of the PS5's 4K graphics technology, as well as its dimension-hopping storyline and combat where the pair take on an evil emperor from another reality.
Players control not only Ratchet & Clank but also Rivet, a female Lombax from another dimension. Using the PS5's fast-loading SSD, the game introduces the concept of instantaneous inter-dimensional travel, allowing you to flit between worlds without any loading times.

Demon's Souls
Known as possibly one of the hardest videogames ever made, Demon's Souls is the original entry to the uber-hard 'Dark Souls' franchise. First released in 2009, this fully-HD 4K remake was a launch title for the PS5.
Demon's Souls sees players explore the cursed land of Boletaria, where they must battle through some uber-difficult bosses and unlock power-ups and weapons along the way. If your character is killed during a level, you'll be sent right back to the start of it with reduced health and all non-boss enemies respawned.
The PS5 Demon's Souls remake adds in some new weapons and features as well as incredible new graphics. If you're a fan of a challenge, don't miss it.

Control: Ultimate Edition
Okay, I'll admit it, this one is cheating slightly. Control is technically a last-gen game from 2019 that fell under most people's radars, but has received a full 'Ultimate Edition' makeover for next-gen consoles.
Developed by 'Alan Wake' creators Remedy Entertainment—and set in the same narrative universe—Control follows Jesse Faden, the new Director of the mysterious Federal Bureau of Control, as she tries to conquer the paranormal forces that have taken over the FBC's 'Oldest House' HQ and save reality from destruction.
Since its release Control has received two full expansions and some major graphical upgrades for the PS5. If you're into classic shows such as the X-Files or Twin Peaks, this is definitely one for you.
It's also a bargain, coming in at about half the price of other PS5 launch titles.
