Microsoft Teams down: Chatting platform outage plagues those working from home

It’s certainly ironic that on the first day many across Europe, including the UK, have started working from to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Microsoft Teams – a platform employed by various companies for communication – has stopped working.

Independent outage monitor Downdetector has registered over 1,600 reports at once from users insisting Microsoft Teams is not functioning properly.

Of course, many disgruntled employees working from home have migrated to Twitter to express their frustration for the outage.

Another wrote: “Microsoft Teams has superb timing. Service issues this morning as millions are logging on from home. Remember when the entire service went down after the day after their Super Bowl commercial?”

A third declared: “Well, Microsoft Teams is down. Bad timing.”

Of course, some have speculated that it is indeed the massive onrush of employees using communications platforms like Microsoft Teams at once that has prompted the outage.

One user took to Twitter and wrote: “Is Microsoft Teams down because literally everyone in Europe is trying to work via video conferencing all at the same time?”

The official Microsoft Teams Twitter account has said it is currently “investigating” the issues with its service.

Responding to one user asking about the outage, it stated: “We are investigating current functionality problems within Microsoft Teams. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience as we work towards a resolution.”

Microsoft hasn’t confirmed what has caused the issues with its Teams service. Of course, Express.co.uk will keep you up to date with the ongoing outage.
