Mate 20 Pro will soon be overtaken as Huawei confirms its next exciting release

The Mate 20 Pro might be one of the best phones of the past year but it’s about to be overtaken by something new from Huawei.

The Chinese tech company has now confirmed that the new Mate 20 X (5G) will be launched in the UK very soon.

Speaking to media, including Express.co.uk, Huawei’s president of the consumer business group in western Europe, Walter Ji, revealed the fast device will arrive this summer.

Although Huawei seems confident that its first 5G-ready device will arrive shortly the company wouldn’t reveal an exact date or which networks it will be available on.

Once confirmed, it will be a big announcement for Huawei especially if the firm reveals that its new device will arrive on EE’s new service.

When EE launched its superfast signal in May the firm said it was putting Huawei 5G devices ‘on hold’ until uncertainty around the situation with the vendor’s ability to buy components and software from the US had been clarified.

There’s no word on whether the new Mate 20 X (5G) will launch on EE but Huawei seems confident it will have a strong UK presence.

As a quick reminder, the Mate 20 X (5G) features a giant 7.2-inch OLED screen, triple rear camera and 4,200mAh battery.

There’s also a fast Huawei Kirin 980 processor, SuperCharge refill option and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The news of this new phone launch comes as Vodafone has just switched on its 5G network in seven cities across the UK.

The first areas to access the new network will include Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and London with more areas being added throughout the year.

Speaking about the news, Vodafone UK CEO Nick Jeffery said: “5G will transform the way we live and work. Our customers are streaming over 50% more content today than they did last year, and with 5G the demand for data is only set to increase.

“That is why we want to remove the limits on data, so that customers can unlock the full potential of 5G, and we can really propel the UK into the digital age.

“By offering unlimited plans to our consumer and business customers, we will revolutionise the market. We will give customers all the data they need, when and where they want it.”
