Joe Rogan’s hugely popular podcast will become a Spotify exclusive by the ‘end of the year’.
The Joe Rogan Experience features Rogan chatting to various guests for up to a couple of hours and is one of the most-downloaded podcasts on the web.
The comedian has said his show will become available on Spotify from September 1 before becoming an exclusive property on the platform at the end of the year.
Both the audio and video versions of the show will be available through Spotify although clips will still be posted to YouTube.
Rogan stressed that despite the move, the show will remain free to listeners.
The amount Spotify paid for exclusive rights to the show hasn’t been revealed but reports estimate it’s in the neighbourhood of $100 million (£81 million).
It’s a big acquisition for the Swedish streaming company and a big steal from Apple Podcasts – the Joe Rogan Experience is regularly in the top 10 most downloaded shows in the world.
The show probably hit peak fame when billionaire Elon Musk appeared and proceeded to smoke weed live on air.
