iOS 13 release – Your Apple iPhone is set for a massive upgrade this month

If you are waiting patiently for news on the release of iOS 13 then there may not be too much longer until an official release.

Apple has just announced a major launch event which will be taking place on September 10 and if the firm follows its usual pattern then its iOS update should follow soon after.

Along with showing off shiny new iPhones, the US technology firm always uses this keynote to announce when its software upgrades will become available and they are usually released one week after this event.

If 2019 is the same as previous years then we can expect to see iOS 13 arriving on devices from September 17.

This blockbuster update was first announced back in June with it bringing a huge array of new extras to the iPhone.

One of the biggest changes is the addition of a Dark Mode which will transform the on-screen look of your smartphone.

Dark Mode will be available in all of Apple’s apps but that’s not all as developers will also have access to this feature so expect plenty of changes to your favourite applications.

Along with that enhanced appearance, there’s plenty of other features coming in iOS 13 including an improved Photos app, better reminders and more ways to edit your pictures and video.

Apple also revealed something called QuickPaths back in June.

This new feature brings easy one-hand typing to the iOS keyboard by continuously swiping through the letters of a word.

Finally, everything should be a little faster once this update is installed with Apple boasting that apps will load at a more rapid rate and Face Unlock should be even more seamless.

“iOS 13 brings new capabilities to the apps you use every day, with rich updates to Photos and Maps, and privacy-protecting features like Sign In with Apple, all while delivering faster performance,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering.

“We’re excited for customers to experience what’s coming to iPhone this fall and can’t wait for them to see how great everything looks in Dark Mode.”

Apple says the new software features will be available as a free update for iPhone 6s and later, and will be available with iPadOS for iPad Air 2 and later, all iPad Pro models, iPad 5th generation and later, and iPad mini 4 and later.

iOS 13 is coming to the following iPhones:

iPhone XS • iPhone XS Max • iPhone XR • iPhone X • iPhone 8 • iPhone 8 Plus • iPhone 7 • iPhone 7 Plus • iPhone 6S • iPhone 6S Plus • iPhone SE • iPod Touch (seventh generation)
