Honor 20 Pro unveiled as an iPhone-baiting gadget costing half the price

You may have seen adverts from Chinese phone brand Honor dotted around London at the moment.

They consist of Tottenham star Dele Alli posing with the gleaming blue handsets that are becoming more and more popular.

Well, Honor has a new device out that’s likely to see the trend continue. The Honor 20 Pro is a phone with all the specs of a £900/£1,000 gadget but is available now for £549.99.

That’s half the price of the £1,099 iPhone XS Max.

The 20 Pro itself has a quad-camera on the back, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space backed up with a 4,000 mAh battery. And the camera is what the company are pushing.

‘The Honor 20 Pro makes it very close to the top of our DxOMark Mobile ranking, thanks to good photo and video performances across the board and no significant areas of weakness,’ explained DxOMark, the leading independent specialists when it comes to comparing phone cameras.

‘If you’re in the market for a new smartphone with excellent imaging capabilities, the Honor 20 Pro should be very high up on your list of options, especially if you want to save a little bit of cash compared to the more established competition,’ they said.

Honor is actually owned by Chinese giant Huawei, but is focused on edgier and more affordable, youth-orientated devices.

Despite rumbles about being cut off from Google, the company has committed that customers will continue to receive support for any devices they buy.

‘Anyone who has already bought, or is about to buy a Honor smartphone, can continue to access the world of apps as they have always done,’ the company said in a statement.

‘All devices continue to be covered by our manufacturer’s warranty and will receive full service support accordingly.’

To make the deal even sweeter, Honor says that anyone buying an Honor 20 Pro between August 1 and August 18 will receive a free Honor Watch Magic smartwatch – which normally costs £180 – for free.

There are two colour variants of the Honor 20 Pro – the Phantom Blue (an exclusive option from Carphone Warehouse) and Phantom Black.
