Harley Davidson might be famed for its roaring petrol-powered motorbikes, but its latest (and more eco-friendly) mode of transport is grabbing all of the headlines right now. Under the new Serial 1 brand, the famous US chopper company is releasing a series of electric bikes, with one unique model, called the Mosh Chopper, recently reaching a staggering £14,000 at auction.

Fortunately, not all Harley Davidson electric bikes will set you back that much. For example, its new MOSH/TRIBUTE model will go on sale for a (slightly) more affordable price of $5,999 (£4,350).

For that, you’ll get a bike that features a sleek, contemporary design with exclusive white-toned Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires, a hand-crafted sprung honey-coloured leather saddle and cables that are all hidden inside the hydroformed aluminium frame.

By removing the wires from the outside, Harley Davidson says it should help to cut down and maintenance and stop the wires from snagging on the rider’s clothes. Get out on the road, and you can expect a range of up to 105 miles via the 529Wh lithium-ion battery.

This power pack can also be removed and refilled when you get to your destination so you don’t have to lug your bike into the office for a refill.

Harley is promising its battery can go from flat to full in around 5 hours although it can part charge to 75 percent in just 2.6 hours.

Get peddling and you’ll race to speeds of 20mph, although that’s limited to 15.5mph in Europe to comply with the law around electric bikes. While that’s not as fast as the ludicrous new i Vision AMBY from BMW, which tops out at over 30mph, but is still good enough to whizz you to work without breaking into a sweat.

If all that sounds exciting, you need to be quick to own one.

Harley Davidson is only producing around 650 of them with a limited number being shipped across the pond.

Speaking about the stylish new pedal-powered bike, the US firm said: “When Serial 1 launched in October 2020, the first eBike shown to the public was a stunning prototype drawn from the vintage motorcycle that inspired the creation of the Serial 1 eBike brand. Serial 1 is thrilled now to offer a limited-edition model, the MOSH/TRIBUTE, that so faithfully captures the iconic look and feel of that first prototype, and to use this moment as a springboard to launch our S1 Series that will see even more exclusive and highly-desirable Serial 1 eBike models in the future.”
