Halo TV series trailer teases live-action reimagining of Xbox icon Master Chief

Ever since Microsoft suddenly released the Halo: Infinite multiplayer on Monday, fans of the long-running Xbox series have been going wild for Master Chief action.

The good news is that there's even more to get excited about, as Paramount Plus has just released an enigmatic teaser trailer for its upcoming Halo TV adaptation.

Slated for release in 2022, the nine-episode Halo TV series is being co-produced by Steven Spielberg. Like the original videogame series, the series is set to explore an armed conflict between humans and aliens called 'The Covenant' in the 26th century.

The teaser trailer doesn't give much away, but shows Master Chief's scarred back before he dons his iconic armour.

It will feature Pablo Schreiber of 'The Wire' and 'Orange Is The New Black' in the starring role.

Alongside him, Natascha McElhone of 'The Truman Show' is slated to play Dr. Catherine Halsey. Jen Taylor will voice the artificial intelligence Cortana, as she reprises her voice acting role from the original Halo series.

Other cast members include Charlie Murphy ('Peaky Blinders') Danny Sapani ('Misfits', 'The Crown')

Upon announcing the show, the CEO of Showtime, David Nevins said: “Halo is our most ambitious series ever and we expect audiences who have been anticipating it for years to be thoroughly rewarded.”

Now twenty years old, Halo is one of the world's longest-running game franchises.

The multiplayer component of the latest instalment in the series, Halo: Infinite, was released out of nowhere earlier this week as Microsoft celebrated the Xbox's two-decade anniversary.
