Fortnite's mysterious purple cube has just transformed Loot Lake in a major way

Fortnite, the already too-addictive battle royale game that’s turned into a gaming phenomenon, has proven even more gripping in recent weeks as players have been following the path of a mysterious purple cube.

The cube appeared in August after the rift in Fortnite‘s sky closed and the giant alien cube appeared instead, and it’s since been travelling around the map, destroying buildings, creating runes and causing chaos.

And as of yesterday (September 19), the cube appears to have reached its destination: Loot Lake.

As it hit the lake, the cube submerged into the water and slowly turned it purple, until the whole thing disappeared and turned the entire lake into a giant, purple bouncer pad.

Many fans had always expected Loot Lake to be the cube’s ultimate destination but, whatever Epic Games had up its sleeve, it’s safe to say that transforming a key map point into a giant trampoline probably wasn’t what most players were expecting.

The latest development comes as Fortnite gears up for the launch of its sixth season. The new season gives players new opportunities to unlock rewards, from new character and weapon skins to emotes and loading screens, all earned by levelling up during the season’s run.

Fortnite is available to play on PS4, Xbox One, iOS, PC and Mac and, as of June of this year, the game was also made available to play on Nintendo Switch too.
