For all of Mark Zuckerberg's talk about working in the Metaverse, we're still yet to see our jobs move fully into virtual reality, let alone videogames turn into jobs.

But all of that could be about to change, as Pringles is recruiting candidates to become full-time vending machine stackers in the game Train Sim World 2.

Successful candidates will be paid £20,000 and transformed into a non-playable character (NPC) with their face in the game.

While you continue to go about your day in real life, your NPC will spend its time refilling virtual vending machines in virtual train stations to ensure that virtual people can eat virtual Pringles on their virtual trains. (Fortunately, the £20,000 is real.)

Comedian and gaming enthusiast Iain Stirling will be involved in the search for the perfect Pringles shelf-stacker.

Stirling said: "We now live in a world where you can get paid to work in a video game as a Pringles vending machine re-filler NPC! My new role is to encourage people to get involved, be creative, and apply for this once in a lifetime role!

"It's important to plan and prepare for the role of a lifetime and I am hoping my matchmaking wit inspires people to get involved. I am devastated I can't apply!".

To enter, all you have to do is post a creative video or image featuring a Pringles tube and an explanation of why you would be the best vending machine refiller in under 50 words. Stick it on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag #PringlesStayInTheGame and tag

Pringles will randomly select 50 candidates from the UK, France, and Germany for a shortlist before choosing their finalist.

If successful, you will be modelled in 3D and appear in the game from September. Meanwhile, Runners-up will get a customised Pringles Xbox Series S.

Applications close on 6th July 2022, so make sure to get yours in soon.
