Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg could fight each other in a cage match at Rome's historic Colosseum, with talks already underway.

According to Twitter CEO Elon Musk, the pair might duke it out in a UFC cage match at the Colosseum. In a tweet, he said: "Some chance fight happens in Colosseum".

That would mean the two social media CEOs will fight each other on the same hallowed ground that legendary Roman gladiators once battled each other for glory—except instead of glory, they'll just be putting each other in headlocks for social media clout on the websites that they respectively own.

Elon Musk confirmed that talks are underway in a tweet in which he said: "Some chance fight happens in Colosseum".

According to TMZ, UFC boss Dana White has offered to help organise and promote the fight in what he believes will be the 'biggest in history'.

White said he has been in touch with Italy's Minister of Culture about using the Colosseum as a potential venue for the fight, which could generate millions of dollars for both Twitter and Facebook.

It's unclear why the two tech billionaires have agreed to fight, besides the obvious reasons; namely, fragile male egos, narcissism, and a deep-seated spiritual void in their hearts that clearly no amount of money can fill but a few punches to the skull might help plug.

Mark Zuckerberg is himself an accomplished Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighter and has won medals in a competition this year, while Musk admits he rarely exercises but used to do judo, taekwondo and karate when he was younger.

Some of the world's top fighters including Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre have offered training to the two billionaires, so it's anyone's guess who will actually win—or if there ever can really be any winners in a situation where two of the world's most powerful men decide to just slap each other a bit rather than do something genuinely useful for the planet with their immense resources.
