Owners of the popular Galaxy S9 should check their devices for the latest update from Samsung right now.
This latest patch was announced earlier in April and brings some critical fixes to these hugely popular smartphones.
In fact, one of the bugs that this upgrade addressed is so bad Samsung has marked as critical with it allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on a target’s device.
Samsung first began rolling out this fix to its Galaxy Note 8 phones which were then followed by the Note 9 and now the S9 appears ready for the changes.
Confirming the update Samsung said: “Samsung Mobile is releasing a maintenance release for major flagship models as part of monthly Security Maintenance Release (SMR) process. This SMR package includes patches from Google and Samsung.
“At Samsung, we take security and privacy issues very seriously and we are doing our best to respond as quickly as possible.
“Securing your device and maintaining the trust you place in us is our top priority.”
Along with the S9 getting this fix, there’s a swathe of other phones that are also being upgraded included the Galaxy S7 Active, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy S8 Active.
To check for the update simply head to your settings menu and select Software Update then tap Download and install.
It’s worth noting that Samsung will be pushing out this update slowly across the world so you may have to keep checking to see when it has become available on your device.
This update comes as prices for the S9 continue to drop with some retailers such as Amazon slashing the price of this phone.
In fact, you can pick this device up for under £500 which is a huge saving off its original £739 price.
Even Samsung has cut the price of this call maker with the Korean firm currently selling it for just £549.
As a quick reminder, the Galaxy S9 arrives with a 5.8-inch screen, fast Octa-core processor and 12-megapixel rear camera.
There’s also wireless charging, water-resistant design and 64GB internal memory which can be boosted via an SD card.
It’s worth noting that there is a big reason why the S9 has been cut so aggressively in price as it’s just been superseded by the Galaxy S10.
This latest smartphone adds a swathe of extra features including a triple rear camera, bigger screen which even has an embedded fingerprint sensor under it.
Samsung has also added the ability to refill other devices wirelessly via a technology called PowerShare.
