As Galaxy Note 8 and Note 9 prices drop owners should check for this critical update NOW

Galaxy Note 8 and Note 9 owners should be on the lookout for a critical update from Samsung.

The Korean technology firm announced the news of this upgrade earlier this month which fixes a number of security flaws on these popular devices.

Although all of Samsung’s flagship phones will be receiving the update it seems the Note 8 and Note 9 are first in line.

SamMobile reported earlier this week that the Note 8 rollout had begun and now it seems the Note 9 is following.

According to the latest report, Samsung has now released the patch for the Galaxy Note 9 in Romania, Bulgaria, and Slovakia with more countries expected to follow soon.

The Korean technology firm has just announced the release of its next security patch which fixes a number of Android vulnerabilities on these devices.

Confirming the update Samsung said: “Samsung Mobile is releasing a maintenance release for major flagship models as part of monthly Security Maintenance Release (SMR) process. This SMR package includes patches from Google and Samsung.”

And In a post on its security website, the Korean technology firm added: “At Samsung, we take security and privacy issues very seriously and we are doing our best to respond as quickly as possible.

“Securing your device and maintaining the trust you place in us is our top priority.

“Samsung releases monthly and quarterly security updates on selected Samsung devices.

“Monthly and quarterly security updates will include patches for Android OS related security issues released by Google, as well as, patches for Samsung-specific security issues.”

Some of the issues are so serious that Samsung has marked them critical with one even allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on a target’s device.

Here a list of devices that will receive the update which is named N960FXXS2CSD2.

Galaxy S7 Active, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S8 Active, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10e, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy A5 (2017), Galaxy A8 (2018)

The news of this major update comes as both the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy Note 9 have been reduced in price.

The retail giant is currently selling the Galaxy Note 8 for just £429.99 in its midnight black finish.

This device comes with 64GB of storage but this can be expanded thanks to its microSD card support.

Amazon’s price is much lower than the £649 Samsung is selling it for on its online store.

Meanwhile, Amazon is also discounting both 128GB and 512GB versions of the Note 9.

The former is as cheap as £699.99 for those that pick up the device in its midnight black variant.

Samsung’s phablet in a lavender purple colour is slightly more expensive, coming in at £769.

Galaxy Note 9 with a whopping 512GB of internal storage has also plunged in price, coming in at £849.99 and £848 for the ocean blue and midnight black varieties respectively.
