Apple’s next MacBook could be exactly what fans have been waiting for

It’s been rumoured for a while, but Apple fans may have just got more information about the next addition to the MacBook family. The US technology firm updated its 15-inch model late last year with smaller bezels to accommodate a bigger screen and improved keyboard. Now it seems the same upgrade could be coming to the 13-inch MacBook.

According to a new report from reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, via MacRumours, the new MacBook will arrive packing a 14.1-inch screen in its aluminium body. If true, this new machine could follow the 16-inch version with smaller bezels allowing Apple to cram a larger screen into the device without making the overall physical footprint all that bigger.

It’s also likely the new laptop will ditch the controversial butterfly-mechanism keyboard in favour of the improved Magic Keyboard, which offers better travel and a more robust design. Crucially, the latter hasn’t seen any of the reliability issues that plagued the slim-profile Butterfly designs for years since its first introduction back in 2015.

If the new MacBook follows in the footsteps of the 16-inch model, you can also expect more power from a newer processor, better battery life, and belting sound from the latest stereo speakers.

We’ll have to wait and see if these rumours come true, but a new 13-inch MacBook might not be the only shiny device coming out of Cupertino. Kuo is also speculating that more products could be coming soon from Apple including a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro and 10.2-inch standard iPad.

These could be joined by an update to the 27-inch iMac along with a rebooted iPad mini. Sadly, if any of these upgrades have got you excited there could be quite a wait.

It’s thought that most of the new devices won’t launch until the last quarter of 2020 with a September or October release date the most likely.

The news of these Mac and iPads comes as many are still waiting for an update to the cheaper iPhone SE. Many had expected Apple to make an announcement about this new budget smartphone in March but some rumours suggest this has been delayed due to concerns over Coronavirus.

When it does finally launch, we’re expecting the new iPhone SE 2 (or iPhone 9 as some are suggesting) to feature a fast processor, better camera and improved battery life – all at a more reasonable price than the current iPhone 11 flagships.

In fact, some have put a price of under $500 on this new phone which would surely make it hugely popular. We keep you updated on the latest Apple rumours, news and gossip so watch this space for more details.
