Apple’s iOS 12 is slammed by users who claim update drains battery life

Last week, Apple launched its latest operating system, iOS 12, which included a range of exciting new features.

iPhone users were quick to download the new system – but many have noticed an annoying side effect.

After installing the update, the battery life of many iPhones appearing to plummet.

Some users have even suggested that this is a tactic used by Apple to encourage users to upgrade to newer models.

Sierra tweeted: “Installed iOS 12 and my battery immediately went from 99% to 45%. Thanks Apple.”

Bianca said: “I updated on iOS 12 and my battery went down by 20% in 2 minutes and my phone is hot is this happening because it’s the iPhone 6s and apple wants me to buy the new one.”

And Oliver added: “It’s absolutely unacceptable that a company like Apple would charge premium prices for phones that barely last half a day.”

You’ll be happy to hear that there’s an obvious reason for the battery life taking a hit.

The software update has several big changes, which mean your iPhone has to reorganise your apps and data – a demanding task for the processor.

Inevitably, this puts an extra strain on your battery.

Thankfully, this process should only last for around two days, at which point your battery life should return to normal.
