Amazon launches most powerful tablet yet and it costs a lot less than an iPad

If your budget won’t quite stretch to Apple’s market-leading iPads then Amazon might have just what you are looking for. The US technology giant has confirmed the release of a new device called the Fire Max 11. This portable PC comes packed with an 11-inch display, speedy Wi-Fi 6 technology for stutter-free downloads and toughened glass to help avoid it getting damaged.

There’s also a 2.2Ghz octa-core processor tucked under its shell which Amazon is promising makes it almost 50 percent faster than any of its other Fire tablets.

Other features packed inside include a 14-hour battery life, enhanced front and rear cameras plus speakers that offer immersive Dolby Atmos surround sound.

Of course, being an Amazon tablet it’s powered by Alexa with owners able to ask questions and get a useful response.

There’s also a neat Show Mode, which basically turns the Fire Max 11 into an Echo Show-like screen for your smart home.

Just like the iPad, there’s the ability to add a keyboard for a laptop-style experience and stylus lets owners scribble on the screen without using their finger.

So what about the all-important price?

The Fire Max 11 starts from £249.99 which is over £100 less than Apple’s entry-level 9-inch iPad.

Those wanting the full experience can add the keyboard case and stylus as a bundle with things costing £375.

“Fire Max 11 is our most powerful tablet yet, with a beautiful screen and a sleek new design—it’s built to help you have fun and get things done,” said Eric Saarnio, vice president of Amazon Devices International. “The team has packed in an amazing number of features—a powerful octa-core processor, crystal-clear display, fingerprint recognition, superfast Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, 14 hours of battery life, support for great new accessories, and more—all at an incredible value. The new Fire Max 11 is proof you can get everything you need from a tablet without paying premium prices.”
