Youth star Jensen Weir makes England debut just two months after playing for Scotland at same level

Highly rated Wigan midfielder Weir, son of former Rangers, Everton and Scotland star Davie, turned out for the under 17s against Russia.

Weir, 16, has switched allegiances to the Three Lions after he appeared for the first time for the Scots at the SAME level and against the SAME opposition in August.

Wanted man Weir can play for either country but has now moved to the "Auld Enemy" in a surprise move.

The midfielder has turned his back on the country his father represented 69 times in an international career spanning 13 years

And the youngster follows the same route as England Under-21 keeper Angus Gunn who chose to play for the land of his birth over father Bryan’s Scotland.

Jensen made his Latics debut last season in the Football League Trophy defeat at home to Accrington, becoming the youngest ever player to make his bow for the club aged 15 and 280 days.

And his only appearance this term has been in the Carabao Cup loss at Rotherham in August.

Wigan will look to bounce back for the 4-0 hammering at Preston when high-flying West Brom rock up the DW Stadium on Saturday.
