WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view in doubt over Saudi Arabia tensions following murder of US journalist Jamal Khashoggi

The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and John Cena are among the superstars due to compete at the showcase in Riyadh on November 2.

But the Arab state has become embroiled in an international crisis following Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s disappearance.

The Saudi national and US resident was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last week.

Turkish authorities claim he was murdered by Saudi agents, allegations that have been denied.

Riyadh state Khashoggi left the consulate shortly after he arrived.

But the saga has thrown WWE’s return to Saudi Arabia for the second time this year into serious doubt.

And it now remains unclear whether the event at the King Saud University Stadium will go ahead.

A WWE statement said: “We are currently monitoring the situation.”

Vince McMahon’s wrestling company held the first show of a ten-year deal in Saudi back in April.
