Woman accused of causing Paulina-Dustin drama speaks out

The woman at the center of Paulina Gretzky and Dustin Johnson’s rumored troubles is speaking out.

Speculation surrounding a breakup between Gretzky and Johnson gained steam over the weekend, after the Great One’s daughter scrubbed all traces of the golfer from her Instagram. That was followed by a report from The Sun that a relationship with California socialite Yassie Safai was the reason behind Gretzky’s actions. Safai strongly denied that report on Tuesday.

“I met Dustin Johnson at Sherwood Country Club. I have run into him at Sherwood maybe 4 times since then and yes briefly spoke with him, like I’m sure any avid golfer and member would,” Safai wrote on Instagram.

“I am sure he is a great person but we do not have a close friendship. I have never met Paulina Gretzky and do not know the Gretzky family, but again, I am sure they are great people.”

Gretzky and Johnson have been engaged since 2013 and share two sons, Tatum, 3, and River, 1.

Safai, a golf-loving 39-year-old, crossed paths with Johnson following the 2016 US Open, according to The Sun. She made her Instagram private citing the “dark side of social media” following Monday’s report and only changed that to clarify her status — or lack thereof — with Johnson.

A source close to the Gretzky clan tells TMZ the couple are still together. The insider offered no details regarding Gretzky’s Instagram purge.

“I have no insight into the rumors around Dustin Johnson and Paulina Gretzky’s relationship,” Safai wrote. “I wish them nothing but the best. I just want to go back to living my normal life.”
