The pair slugged out a Manchester classic that the Brixton banger edged on points and meet again for the rematch at the O2 this weekend.
The winner is in line to fight Anthony Joshua for his three world titles on April 13 at Wembley and Whyte insists he is a vastly different fighter to the slugger we saw two years ago.
The Body Snatcher, 30, said: “I will fight anyone, I like it, I enjoy solving the puzzles that get put in front of me.

Finchley brawler Chisora, who dropped his Del Boy nickname earlier in the year to be rebranded War, insists he too is a new man after finding religion and kicking booze.

AJ has backed his former Finchley ABC gym-mate to get rematch revenge and Chisora is ready to chomp down on that dangling carrot.
The 34-year-old said: “I will bring the same game I bring every day. He will try to box but I will meet him in the middle. I will bite down on my gumshield and go to war.
“In round six and seven when we have been pounding each other and round eight and nine comes, you have to keep going.
“Everyone loved the first fight – my brain cells did not – it was a great fight.
“Eddie is dangling that carrot in front me and Dillian and that carrot is AJ.
"I have been asking for the rematch for a while and it is finally happening.”
Golovkin set for sensational THIRD fight with Canelo Alvarez
GENNADY GOLOVKIN could be set for this third bout with rival Canelo Alvarez.
The WBC have lined up a mandatory title scrap between GGG and American Jermall Charlo with the winner set to take on the Mexican.
Alvarez is the current WBC middleweight champ after his points win over Golovkin in September.
He has since defended his title with the convincing win over Britain's Rocky Fielding earlier this month.
Charlo is favourite to beat Matt Korobov on Saturday before the WBC go full guns blazing to set up a clash with Golovkin for the winner.
