Why Does Antonio Brown Really Hate Ben Roethlisberger?

Antonio Brown has made his feelings known, he doesn’t want
to play in Pittsburgh anymore, and the biggest reason is the man under center.
Brown and Ben
Roethlisberger have a long and illustrious history on the field, but off
the field, there is allegedly no love lost between the powerhouse pair. Brown,
since the end of the season, has skirted his teammates, avoided answering texts
and has been less than receptive to team negotiations.

While Brown is certainly acting out he might have a good
reason. Not only does A.B live in the shadows of Big Ben but it is rumored that
he feels mostly unappreciated by his quarterback and the organization as a
whole. So, what is the feud between Antonio Brown and Ben Roethlisberger all
about?

Are A.B. and Big Ben really feuding?

While Brown and Roethlisberger’s problems really came to a head at the tail end of the 2018 season, it would seem the pair haven’t been in sync for a long while. In September of 2018, Brown had an epic meltdown on the sidelines after Roethlisberger failed to target him. Roethlisberger made the situation worse by speaking about the incident and admonishing Brown for his behavior on a radio show, according to USA Today.

Rumblings of Brown’s displeasure with Roethlisberger and the Steeler’s organization began shortly thereafter. Replying to a tweet that suggested Big Ben was the reason he was so successful on the field, Brown urged the team to trade him to find out if he could succeed elsewhere. He has since deleted the reply. In November Roethlisberger blamed Brown for a late-game interception which furthered the angst between the veteran QB and his star receiver.

Will Antonio Brown play for the Steelers in 2019?

Brown’s return to the Steel City is uncertain at best, but even the team owner thinks Brown will be gone by the time the team begins training. In early January Brown fueled rumors that he was looking for a trade after an argument between Brown and Roethlisberger sent the wideout into a frenzy. According to sources on the field, Brown walked off exclaiming that he was done. He did not return to his team for the rest of the week and was listed as out for the team’s crucial week 17 game.

The Steelers organization has been in talks to trade Brown to another team in recent weeks. Allegedly, the Buffalo Bills showed interest in the star wide receiver. Brown, allegedly, has no interest in being dumped in Buffalo to languish with a lackluster team. According to NBC Sports, Brown refused to travel to Buffalo for talks and nixed the entire trade.

Antonio Brown trade is now a fire sale

While Brown may be among the best in the business, his
meltdowns and antics have left a sour taste in the mouths of many team owners.
With a reputation as a diva and a man who isn’t always easy to get along with,
many teams are putting the brakes on singing the high-yardage wideout. Brown’s
age is also playing a role in the lack of interest. Now on the wrong side of
30, Brown’s value is starting to fade, although his 2018 stats show no signs of
him slowing.

At this point, according to CBS
Sports
, the Steelers are going to be forced to take whatever offers
come along, and Brown has to agree to it. Currently embroiled in a stalemate
with the organization’s former golden child, the only viable offer has now
evaporated thanks to Brown’s refusal.
