Who is singing the national anthem?

US soul music legend Gladys Knight will sing the US national anthem prior to the Super Bowl.

The 74-year-old 'empress' of soul was born in Atlanta and her most famous song is 'midnight train to Georgia'.

She has won seven Grammy Awards, eleven number-one R&B singles, and six number-one R&B albums.

Knight also performed the James Bond theme music for 1989 film 'License to Kill'.

What time will she perform?

The national anthem is usually performed minutes before the main event starts.

Kick-off is set for 11.30pm UK time – 6.30pm local time in Atlanta – so expect Knight on stage around 10 minutes before then.

Which teams are playing in the Super Bowl?

New England Patriots will take on Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 53 in Atlanta.

The Patriots are making their third straight appearance in the NFL's showpiece event, and ninth under the leadership of quarterback Tom Brady.

The Rams, meanwhile, are back for the first time since 2002 – when they were based in St Louis and lost to the Patriots.

Who is performing the half-time show?

Maroon 5 will be the headline act for this year's halftime show at Super Bowl 53.

The band follow in the footsteps of some of the world's biggest musicians such as Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Beyonce.

Maroon 5 are from California and started out in 1994. They have recorded six studio albums, five of which reached the top ten in the UK charts.

Expect to see them on stage around 1am UK time.
