It is run over a distance of three miles and two furlongs.

History of the Ladbrokes Trophy

  • Three horses have won the Ladbrokes Trophy twice: Mandarin (1957 and 1961), Arkle (1964 and 1965) and Denman (2007 and 2009).
  • Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls have been the most successful trainers this century with three wins apiece in the big race.
  • The race has been won by nine horses which have also won the Cheltenham Gold Cup, the most recent being Native River.
