What Liverpool's Mo Salah did in training amazed his former team-mate Gervinho

The pair worked together at Roma during the 2015/16 season before Gervinho left for Chinese side Hebei Fortune.

Salah stayed in the Italian capital for another season before joining Liverpool.

And he made an incredible impact during his first season at Anfield, netting 44 goals in all competitions.

Gervinho insists he always knew Salah would go on to be one of the world’s best players, citing the Egyptian’s amazing work ethic in training.

Gervinho, now at Parma, told the Guardian: “Salah is a tough guy. Always calm and strong, with the mentality of a hard worker.

“I’ll never forget his training sessions: very high rhythm, pushed like a madman, you watched him in amazement.

“He had a sort of positive effect – you saw Salah and wanted to work harder. Talent and sacrifice.”

Gervinho also reflected on his time with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard at Lille, adding: “I knew Eden would become a global star.

“He had feet, mind, body and class: everything you need to become a champion.”
