West Ham and Southampton in Junior Adamu transfer battle as Salzburg fight to keep £12m-rated striker as Ajax circle

WEST HAM and Southampton are reportedly interested in RB Salzburg forward Junior Adamu.

The 20-year-old Austrian international is under contract with his current club until 2025.

But his nine goals in the 2021/22 season – including one against Bayern Munich in the Champions League – have caught the attention of several teams across Europe.

Ajax, Hertha Berlin and RB Leipzig are all thought to be monitoring him.

And The Mail are now reporting that West Ham and Southampton have joined the race.

Brighton are also thought to be keen on acquiring his services.

Adamu, who has been capped once by Austria, can play out wide or as a central striker.

He is valued at just £12million and so could be seen as a financially viable option for a host of clubs.

West Ham have already been linked with Man Utd forward Jesse Lingard.

And it was reported earlier this week that they have made an approach to sign the England international – who is out of contract at Old Trafford in the summer.

Lingard spent six months on loan with the Hammers during the 2020/21 campaign.

And he starred for the East London outfit, netting nine goals in 16 matches.

But Lingard then returned to Man Utd in an attempt to fight for a first team place.

However, with his contract running down, he managed just two Premier League starts throughout last season as his Old Trafford career drifted towards a rather disappointing end.
