Watch Joaquin score incredible goal from a CORNER in Copa del Rey semi-final between Real Betis and Valencia

The Spanish legend whipped in a ferocious ball which was palmed away by the visitors' keeper Domenech Jaume.

But replays showed Jaume was just a fraction too late in his save and the ball had clearly crossed the line, sending Betis 2-0 up.

It was confusion at first as the referee failed to blow for a goal – despite a stunned Joaquin appealing frantically.

But thanks to some help from VAR, the goal was given.

Joaquin's goal doubled Betis' lead after Loren Moron headed in from a corner moments before half-time.

Betis, who last lifted the trophy in 2005, looked to be in pole position to reach the final in May, which will be played at their stadium.

But Joaquin, who played for both Betis and Valencia before returning to the former in 2015, saw his spectacular effort cancelled out thanks to two late goals.

Russia World Cup star Denis Cheryshev headed in Kevin Gameiro's cross with 20 minutes to go to lead the fightback.

And Gameiro, who showcased a nasty black eye, burst through the Betis defence to latch onto Rodrigo's through ball and tap in beyond the keeper to level the score at the death.

Betis go to the Mestalla on February 28 looking to book their place in the final.

Valencia's fightback gives them a huge psychological edge heading into the second leg, knowing that a goalless or a 1-1 draw will be enough for them to reach the final.

The winner will face either Barcelona or Real Madrid, who drew 1-1 at the Nou Camp last night, in the showdown on May 25.
