Watch Arsenal star Stephan Lichtsteiner hilariously stumbles over trying to celebrate Alexandre Lacazette's goal against Tottenham

The veteran defender was an unused substitute in Arsenal's epic 4-2 win over rivals Tottenham, but still managed to be the talk of the town.

The 34-year-old couldn't contain his delight after Alexandre Lacazette fired the Gunners into a 3-2 lead, as he sprinted down the touchline.

Lacazette, Mateo Guendouzi, Sead Kolasinac and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all sprinted towards the corner flag to perform knee-slides in perfect harmony.

And the Swiss international looked to join in with his team-mates, but completely messed up his celebration.

The ex-Juventus ace went to do a knee slide of his own in his tracksuit, but instantly hit the deck, before being bundled by Aaron Ramsey and the rest of the jubilant squad.

And fans spotted his hilarious mishap, with one tweeting: "Lichtsteiner's failed knee slide when attempting to celebrate with Lacazette after his goal is a thing of beauty."

While another quipped: "Lichtsteiner proving you can’t knee slide in a tracksuit."

Another commented: "Lichtsteiner failing the knee slide is the funniest thing I’ve seen today."

One simply stated: "Still creasing at Lichtsteiner eating the turf for Lacazette's goal celebration."

While the player himself took to social media following the sic-goal thriller, where he lauded his side's efforts.

Posting a picture of the squad, he said: "Amazing 4-2 in the derby! What a great team."

Lichtsteiner has been a peripheral figure under Unai Emery since joining in the summer, as he has played second fiddle to first choice right-back Hector Bellerin.

However he has still managed to rack up ten appearances for the Gunners – chalking up with one goal and assist.
