Vasyl Lomachenko can only be described as genius, he has everything from footwork to a granite chin

I'm sure if Jim had ever set eyes on a Lomachenko master-class he would have changed his views completely and fallen in love with this leftie.

If ever a boxer should be described as a genius it is the phenomenal Ukrainian.

Trying to comprehend all his fantastic achievements since he first laced on a pair of gloves simply takes the breath away.

Twice world amateur champion, he was the gold medal winner at the Beijing and London Olympics.

Before he threw his vest in the laundry basket for the last time he had won 396 contests and lost just the one – which he twice avenged.

Lomachenko's amazing record

WBA/WBO world lightweight champion

Fights: 12

Wins: 11

Wins by KO: 9

Twice world amateur champion

2008 Beijing Olympic Featherweight Gold medalist

2012 London Olympic Lightweight Gold medalist

Since turning pro he has set records that probably will never be broken. World featherweight champion in his second fight, junior world lightweight champion in his 7th.

Seven months ago in his 12th fight, he claimed his third world title when he stopped Jorge Linares to become WBA lightweight champion.

And earlier this month he added the WBO bauble to his collection by outpointing Puerto Rican, Jose Pedraza, in New York.

Lomachenko's ring generalship and hand-speed are second to none.

His combination punching is uncannily accurate. He is creative, athletic and his footwork would not go amiss at the Royal Ballet Company.

His heart is as sound as a bell and he also has a granite chin.

At his best, he is poetry in motion and though there's no such thing as a perfect fighter, Vasyl must be the nearest thing to it.

I have no hesitation in naming him pound-for-pound the greatest boxer on this planet.
