Unloved Man Utd striker Lukaku joins top 20 all-time Prem scorers with 111th goal

The Manchester United star, 25, netted twice against Crystal Palace to join Dion Dublin in 20th with 111 goals.

And with Marcus Rashford struggling for fitness, he will hope to add to his tally as he aims to reclaim his first-team spot.

Lukaku's haul has come in 245 matches for United, Chelsea, West Brom and Everton at a rate of 0.45 goals per game.

And he has plenty of time to climb the list, headed by Alan Shearer on 260.

After clipping the Eagles' wings, he said: "I was just hoping for a chance to play as a centre forward and I got the chance today and I’m really happy that I helped the team win the game.

"It doesn’t matter if I play left, right or up front, I always try and do my best for the team. As long as the team win and I can contribute to the win, I am happy."

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has preferred Rashford to Jose Mourinho signing Lukaku since taking over, even playing him on the wing.

But he has been impressed with the Belgian international's response.

The Old Trafford chief said: "Lukaku had two good goals and his link up play was very good too.

"He is working hard in training and has been playing well. He's had to play wide for me and had many defensive duties, so I'm happy for him playing as a number nine.

"It's always good to see players taking their chance. That's what it's about at this club, when you get your chance, grab it."
