UFC’s Nurmagomedov meets with Putin

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s victory tour in Russia saw he and his father meeting with Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.

And the Russian president told Khabib he’d try to get his father to go easy on him over the melee the fighter started after his victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 229 last Saturday.

Here was what Putin had to say, according to RT:

“I will ask your father not to punish you too strictly, because you achieved the main task, worthily and convincingly,”

Khabib ended his press conference Saturday after the fight by saying, “”I know my father gonna smash me when I go home because… I know he gonna smash me.”

His father later said that he would be very hard on his son, even though his son is a 30-year-old professional fighter and the UFC lightweight champ.

But maybe he’ll go a little easier on Khabib after this meeting with Putin.
