Tyson Fury set to fly to famous The Summit Gym in California used by Gennady Golovkin and Oscar De La Hoya for mid-December bout with Deontay Wilder

SunSport understands Fury will train at the secretive The Summit Gym at Big Bear Lake in California ahead of the mouthwatering bout.

The 29-year-old has been locked in talks with the WBC world heavyweight champion Wilder over a date, with an announcement expected this week.

But an agreement has now been made and the fight will take place in mid-December with Saturday 15 the most likely date.

Fury and his team are due to fly out to Big Bear which offers high altitude training and state of the art facilities as he prepares for the biggest test of his comeback.

The Summit – which looks like a regular family home – has been the chosen venue for some of boxing’s biggest names.

Gennady Golovkin trained at the three-storey house in Big Bear ahead of his rematch against Saul Alvarez.

It was designed and built by GGG’s trainer Abel Sanchez for former heavyweight British heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis and Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Stewart.

Oscar De La Hoya also trained at The Summit ahead of his fight against Manny Pacquiao in 2008.

Big Bear Lake is a popular training base for fighters as it is 7,000 feet above sea level and is hidden away in a quiet area.

Golovkin said: “A private gym is very important to me, so I can focus 100 per cent on boxing and not regular life.

“I have a lot of time in this gym. Nobody says, ‘G, you don’t have time, somebody is coming.’ I had all day in this gym, which is special to me.”

After the Kazakh’s defeat to Alvarez on Sunday, Fury described his clash with Wilder as the box office fight of the year.

He wrote on Instagram: “This is now the biggest fight in boxing, between the 2 best heavyweight champs, who want to fight each other.

“Should be announced this week coming.! Really looking forward to being challenged by the best other than myself.!

"This is a dare to be great move by both fighters."
