The who, what, where, when and how of the FFA board election

Who's stepping down? Chairman Steven Lowy and Joseph Healy are resigning, while the two-year terms of appointed directors Simon Hepworth and Chris Nikou have expired.

Who's staying put? Kelly Bayer Rosmarin and Crispin Murray, who were elected alongside Lowy at the 2015 AGM, are the only remaining incumbents and both still have a year to serve – although it's expected the incoming board will ask them to consider their futures.

Who's in the mix? There are 10 candidates after Craig Foster’s withdrawal: Joseph Carrozzi, Chris Nikou, Remo Nogarotto, Mark Rendell, Morry Bailes, Heather Reid, Linda Norquay, Stephen Conroy, Mark Shield and Daniel Moulis. Judith Griggs removed herself from the running last week.

Who's going for chair? Carrozzi, Nikou, Rendell and Nogarotto were the four remaining who didn't cross out a section on their nomination forms which said they would be running for chairman. Nogarotto has since ruled himself out.

How many vacancies are there?

Four of the 10 will be elected, while there is scope for a further three people to be appointed to the board. The appointed directors do not necessarily have to come from the list of nominees. The board cannot exceed nine people.

Who is casting the votes? Under the new FFA congress structure, there are 100 votes. The nine A-League clubs based in Australia have 28 votes between them, the nine state federations have 55 votes and players' union Professional Footballers Australia has seven votes. The new women's council has 10 delegates, each possessing one vote. But we only know the identities of the three nominated by the PFA (Alex Wilkinson, Lydia Williams and Elise Kellond-Knight). The three state federation and three A-League club representatives are yet to be confirmed, while it won't be until just before the AGM on Monday that the independent chair is installed, if at all.

What do the people want?

According to an online poll conducted by the Australian Association of Football Clubs, a whopping 90.2 per cent of the 2316 respondents would have voted for Foster. Nogarotto (61.1 per cent), Reid (52.8 per cent) and Shield (45.1 per cent) were next.

How will the election work? Candidates need a 'prescribed majority' of 60 votes to win a seat. Those who reach it in the first round of voting will be automatically elected. If there's more than four who hit the magic number, the candidates with the highest tally of votes will get in first. If nobody reaches 60 votes, the candidate with the lowest number will be eliminated and another round of voting will take place. Rinse and repeat until four winners emerge.

When and where will it all go down? The AGM will take place at FFA's offices on Monday at 2pm. For the first time, media will be invited to sit in on the meeting, while it will also be live-streamed.
