Stricken Ryder Cup fan: I thought I’d be ‘trampled’ by Tiger Woods’ fans

The Ryder Cup fan whose eyeball exploded after being struck by a wayward Brooks Koepka tee shot has claimed spectators took photos of her horror injury instead of calling for help.

French supporter Corine Remande has been left blind in her right eye after being hit by Koepka’s drive.

Remande, 49, had traveled from Egypt with her partner to watch the Ryder Cup, where she was hit in the face on the sixth hole on the opening day of the tournament.

She has since said she could have been killed in the incident and plans to sue the organizers after being told she has suffered long-term damage.

The golf fan has now revealed how gawking supporters seemed disinterested as blood poured down her face as she lay on the ground.

“Before being moved, in a big mess, I was afraid of being trampled because Tiger Woods was coming and the crowd was growing around us,” Remande said. “What shocked me, too, was that the spectators were taking pictures of me, but no one was calling for help.”

She also stressed how organizers failed to shout “fore” to let people know of an incoming wayward shot, despite the Ryder Cup stating they had.

“They did not [shout fore]. To make a show, the organizers moved the tees forward on the sixth hole to allow the big hitters to reach the green in one shot,” Remande said.

“Without warning the spectators, the public cannot see the players and anticipate and protect themselves. That’s why I’m angry. We have now filed a complaint in order to have answers to our questions, to challenge all the organizers on behalf of the safety of the public.”

Koepka has spoken of the grief he feels from causing the injury to Remande and said he has been left heartbroken upon finding out the news.
