Shock as Ruby Walsh skips Leopardstown to ride Getabird at Limerick on Boxing Day

In a surprising move, the top jockey will skip several high-profile rides in favour of Limerick's Boxing Day fixture.

The six-year-old will partner Willie Mullins' Getabird in the Matchbook Betting Exchange Novice Chase.

The exciting novice chaser will face six rivals in the Grade 1 over 2m4f.

He made an impressive chasing debut at Punchestown and will likely be a warm order for the €100,000 race.

However, Walsh could have had a number of big rides at Leopardstown on the same day.

Mullins has a massive chance in the Grade 1 Racing Post Novice Chase with Voix Du Reve.

She was an impressive winner of a Grade 2 last time out and is second favourite behind Mengli Khan.

He also could have ridden French recruit La Sorelita or the unbeaten Maze Runner in the Grade 2 Knight Frank Juvenile Hurdle.
