Shane McMahon wins WWE World Cup at Crown Jewel

Shane McMahon, yep, has been crowned ‘Best in the World’ after winning the WWE World Cup at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia.

McMahon wasn’t one of the eight participants for the tournament at the controversial event in Saudi Arabia.

They were Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, Dolph Ziggler and The Miz.

The latter pair fought their way through both first-round matches and semi-final battles to book their spots in the final.

But before the action could officially get underway, the duo began brawling – leading to an injury to The Miz.

The SmackDown superstar couldn’t continue and in stepped SmackDown commissioner McMahon to take his place.

From there, it looked like just a matter of time before Ziggler would get the win.

But McMahon rallied and, after going coast-to-coast with the drop kick, McMahon landed the pinfall victory and the trophy.

Baffled? Weren’t we all.

Here’s how the action unfolded in the earlier rounds….

First Round

Rey Mysterio def. Randy Orton

Mysterio appeared well in control, only for Orton to block a 619 and slam him into the mat with a ddt from the second rope, before Orton looked ready to land an RKO – only for Mysterio to counter and roll up the Viper for victory.

Orton elected to batter Mysterio after the match, leading to him being helped back to the locker room.

The Miz def. Jeff Hardy

Full of confidence, The Miz strode to the ring. And ultimately, he delivered.

Hardy went for the twist of fate, only for Miz to hit a skull-crushing finale and claim the win.

Seth Rollins def. Bobby Lashley

Lashley dominated from the off against the Intercontinental champion.

But after missing a spear, Rollins quickly took advantage, hitting the stomp and taking the win.

Dolph Ziggler def. Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle’s back in the ring and puts in an excellent display – but Ziggler is resilient and somehow gets the win.

Angle has the ankle lock on Ziggler in the centre of the ring, but he refuses to tap; eventually he rolls out, and turns the tables, hitting a zig-zag and getting the pinfall.

Semi-finals

The Miz def. Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio hits the 619. He climbs to the top rope.

But as he comes down, The Miz gets his knees up and with the roll up scores the pin and the victory.

Dolph Ziggler def. Seth Rollins

If Big Show paid off for The Bar, then Drew McIntyre paid off for Ziggler here.

The Show Off couldn’t put away the intercontinental champion – until McIntyre interfered and threw him off the top rope.

Ziggler landed the super kick and finally got the three count.
