Sergio Aguero becomes first Man City player to hit 200 goals for club with opener against Chelsea in Community Shield

The Argentine was picked ahead of team-mate Gabriel Jesus to lead the City attack in their Community Shield clash against Chelsea.

And as the norm, he didn't disappoint.

Aguero opened the scoring with just 13 minutes on the clock as new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri was given a rude awakening to English football.

The 30-year-old picked up the ball after good work from Phil Foden and fired the ball past Chelsea's ex-Man City keeper Willy Caballero from 18 yards.

Things would go on to get even better for the lethal marksman in the second half.

He bagged his second of the match, and his 201st City goal.

He got on the end of a wonderfully worked move, played through on the end by Bernardo Silva, and squeezed a finish beyond Caballero and in at the near post.

The striker broke Eric Brook's long-standing goals record of 177 last season when he netted in November's 4-2 Champions League win against Napoli.

Of course that was the club Sarri used to coach in Italy.

And he edged just one shy of that magic 200 when he notched goal number 199 nwith a goal in the EFL Cup final win against Arsenal on February 25.

Now onto the new season, and only another 49 to reach a quarter-of-a-century.
