Serena Williams posts adorable snap with daughter Alexis amid sexism controversy

Serena Williams has taken her mind off her US Open controversy with some family time.

Williams was beaten by Naomi Osaka in Saturday’s final and fined $17,000 for three code violations, which included ‘verbally abusing’ umpire Carlos Ramos.

The 36-year-old accused Ramos of sexism with several figureheads from across the sport wading into the debate.

Williams shared an adorable snap on Monday alongside one-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

The mum and daughter cuddled under a Moana blanket with Williams opting against posting a caption to accompany the picture.

Meanwhile, Williams faces a potential umpire boycott for her matches following the outburst.

The WTA and United States Tennis Association backed the American’s claim that Ramos treated her differently to male players

The umpires claim they were "not supported," with the Times revealing from an anonymous official their belief that Ramos was "thrown to the wolves for simply doing his job and was not willing to be abused for it."

There are now ongoing discussions amongst officials about the next course of action, with a real possibility of refusing to officiate Williams matches until she hands Ramos an apology for vilifying him and labelling him a "liar" and a "thief."

The American reacted angrily to being handed an initial warning for illegal coaching from her coach Patrick Mouratoglou, which he later admitted.

The match then descended into chaos with Williams demanding an apology after taking exception to the ruling and denying she was a cheat.

"I don’t cheat. I’d rather lose," Williams hit back. "Every time I play here, I have problems."
