Rio Ferdinand gives Liverpool fan the middle finger in hilarious selfie after he's asked to take a photo of supporter and his son at the Emirates

Manchester United legend Ferdinand spent a large part of his career doing everything he could to get one over on their big foes from Merseyside.

And the 39-year-old could not resist making another dig when he was approached by a Liverpool fan at the Emirates on Saturday.

Ferdinand was in North London covering the big clash between Jurgen Klopp's title chasers and improving Arsenal for BT Sport.

As he made his way around the stadium, Liverpool supporter Joe Jagger was taking in the atmosphere with his son and wanted a memento.

So he called Ferdinand over and asked the former England defender if he would take a photo of himself with his boy.

The ex-United star happily obliged, and then couldn't resist leaving an extra image for Reds fan Joe to discover.

For when he went through his photo album on his phone, he discovered Ferdinand had also taken a selfie giving the middle finger to the Liverpool supporter.

The fan saw the funny side, and couldn't resist sharing the snaps on Twitter to the amusement of sets of supporters on both sides of the divide.

He wrote: "Just called Rio Ferdinand over and said is he ok for a quick photo with the little man.

"Passed him my phone and said it's one tap on the middle button.

"So glad hatred in football still exists in certain levels" and finished with an ok emoji.

Liverpool went on to secure a 1-1 draw with Arsenal to move top of the Premier League – at least for the night ahead of Manchester City's game with Southampton.
